Timothy Dowling is a Dutch artist, animator and illustrator born in St Maarten, the Netherlands Antilles in 1977. He knew he wanted to become an artist early in life. After graduating from the BCFE Animation College (Dublin, Ireland), he worked on numerous animation projects, the most significant of them being Foster's home for Imaginary Friends and The Amazing World of Gumball. At the same time he was keen on creating dark and magical stories that have led him to focus more on illustration, although the animation influences are still very much present in his work. This year Timothy has published his first picture book The Truth about Monsters, which will be reprinted in 2017 by the BOHEM publishing house (Germany). His influences include Mary Blair,Eyvind Earle and Lou Romano, and he likes the simplicity of the Art Deco style. Timothy enjoys working with traditional materials, his favourite being gouache, and he has a passion for painting forests. He also likes playing the harp and walking in the forest alone.
